ABOUT KAT

Kathryn Walsh is a Brisbane-based designer with an interest in the emotional potential of clothing. Each collection she creates starts with an idea or a feeling that is then explored through the hands-on process of making. This slower approach to design is more closely aligned with artistic practice than fashion production as we know it today and encourages meaningful relationships with garments.

Beginning her studies at the Queensland College of Art, Kat moved into design after noticing that she liked the way that clothes allowed people to communicate without words. She completed a BFA in fashion at the Queensland University of Technology in 2015 and has since been working in costume, design and academic research.
